Special Winter Flights and reduction in fares by PIA

This season, they are operating 21 new domestic flights between Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad and have reduced their fares.

One-way flights cost Rs7,800 now, and Rs. 15,600 for return tickets.

The airline earlier reduced fares to as low as Rs. 6,915 from Islamabad to Gilgit and Skardu. “The reduction in airfare is aimed at promoting tourism across the country, particularly in the northern areas,” said the airline’s spokesman.

He said the company would ensure that during the flight, all coronavirus SOPs are followed.

The airline reduced its domestic fares by 30 percent earlier this month. People travelling from Karachi, Quetta, Islamabad, Lahore, Faisalabad and Peshawar were able to travel with a one-way minimum fare of Rs. 8,500 and a minimum round-trip fare of Rs. 17,000 between these cities.

In order to encourage people travelling home for holidays, the deduction was made.

It was also agreed by the national flag carrier to lease eight new aeroplanes for six years.

It has released dry lease advertisements for the new aircraft. A dry lease is when an aircraft without crew or ground personnel, is leased.

Narrow bodies, Airbus A3230s and Boeing 737s are the aircraft that PIA is looking to lease.

As their leases are up, six planes will be restored.

The plan under which the new planes will be procured by December 2021 has been approved by PIA CEO, Arshad Malik.

The aircraft would be capable of seating more than 170 passengers.
