Pakistani edtech Edmatrix acquired by Jordan’s Abwaab

The Jordanian edtech Abwaab recently made its first acquisition in the form of Pakistani edtech Edmatrix

Abwaab, a startup founded by Hamdi Tabbaa, Sabri Hakim, and Hussein AlSarabi, is a learning platform that allows secondary school students from the Middle East and North Africa to study various subjects with the help of educational videos, tutors, and assessments they can use to track their proficiency and progress.

The startup has already expanded its operations to more countries like Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Iraq, with Pakistan now joining the regions they operate in, through this acquisition. Edmatrix, a Lahore-based startup much like Abwaab, also offers learning tools to secondary school students in the form of videos and live Q&A sessions.

Indeed, Raja Ahmed Shuja, Edmatrix’s Co-founder and CEO, recognized that in order to tap into the potential of the region through education, working with Abwaab was the way to go, stating that through this partnership, they would be able to “create a much bigger impact by enabling millions of students across the Middle East, North Africa, and Pakistan”, as both companies “share the same mission and values”.

Regarding the acquisition, Sabri Hakim, the co-founder and COO of Abwaab, said that their mission of providing high quality, accessible and affordable education to every student regardless of socioeconomic background, “aligns perfectly with Edmatrix’s”.
