Pakistan’s first cultural incubation center set up at Lok Virsa

Pakistan’s first ever cultural incubation center was recently launched at Lok Virsa, the result of a public private partnership between the National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (NIFTH) and Echo Records.

The Merge Incubation Center aims to connect startups operating in the cultural and creative field with the performing arts in order to promote economic growth. The center is essentially looking to create and promote growth on a multidisciplinary level with the art, culture, and creative industries being integrated with research, technology and science.

With the provision of facilities such as audio and video recording studios, concert halls and amphitheaters, NIFTH, Lok Virsa is uniquely positioned to foster creativity.

Talha Ali, the executive director of Lok Virsa, said, “the roadmap to achieving a value chain of creative infrastructure will include incubation of start-ups, investment opportunities, content development, tech-development, e-commerce and much more.”

To mark the establishment of the Merge Incubation Center, a Memorandum of Understanding was drawn between Lok Virsa (NIFTH) and Echo Records, the latter being a music business entity providing end to end services to aspiring and rising musicians. The signing was attended by Talha Ali, the executive director of Lok Virsa, and Ali Ashraf, the founder and CEO of Echo Records, both of whom share the common goal of helping technology serve heritage and culture for the economic development of the creative industry.
